Second Test between India and England: Yashasvi Jaiswal 179*, India 336/6 at stumps

Sports Updates : In Visakhapatnam, Yashasvi Jaiswal batted through the whole day to give India a commanding lead. On the opening day of the second Test at the ACA-VDCA stadium, he was still undefeated at 179 as India scored 336/6 at stumps. Compared to the first Test, Jaiswal was significantly more composed early in his innings, biding his time and waiting for poor deliveries with captain Rohit Sharma, his opening partner, at the other end. After winning the toss, Rohit decided to bat first. After he became the first Test wicket for spinner Shoaib Bashir, Shubman Gill joined Jaiswal and carried on with the cautious approach.  But eventually, the former changed his strategy and appeared ready for a huge score when James Anderson’s brilliance undid him. Following that, a 90-run partnership between Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer held England back, as they kept India ahead until lunchtime and then for the majority of the second session’s opening hour. Iyer, however, failed to capitalize on his opening ball, giving up 27 off 59 to Tom Hartley. Rajat Patidar, a rookie, was called to the crease as a result. Rehan Ahmed dismissed him for 32 in the last session.

In the previous toss, Rohit had stated that Patidar would be replacing the injured KL Rahul with his debut. In addition, India have rested pacer Mohammed Siraj and replaced him with Mukesh Kumar, opting to play Kuldeep Yadav rather than Washington Sundar, who is an all-round option, in lieu of Ravindra Jadeja. It’s possible that Kuldeep Yadav will be included in the team. Since making his debut in2017, he has missed 56 of India’s 64 Test matches. He has waited patiently for his opportunity, which is not often presented. However, he may get the window he has been longing for in the second Test. Washington Sundar is another strong contender to succeed Jadeja. Though Kuldeep might own more experience, Sundar’s status as a true all-rounder makes him a potentially superior choice to replace Jadeja. Of course, Virat Kohli is also absent.

And now for the greatest riddle of them all. The struggle of two young players for a spot in the XI. Jadeja’s injury won’t let him to play, but it will open the door for Sundar. As for Rahul’s replacement, that’s up to chance; nobody knows for sure. In a perfect world, Sarfaraz Khan would be the clear pick because he can play spin better than most young Indian players, but keep in mind that Rajat Patidar was already selected, so he was the more likely option. Both talked about how one of them would almost certainly fulfill their dream of representing India. The third young player, Dhruv Jurel, is also anticipated to warm the bench after KS Bharat’s involvement was verified after his participation in the pre-match press conference.
