After a masterful performance by captain Sikandar Raza with the bat and ball and a final-ball double from Blessing Muzarabani, Zimbabwe won the opening game of the series. With the final ball of the game, Zimbabwe overcame Ireland’s meager 148-run target to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
In the second Twenty20 match, Ireland rallied and managed to reach the 166-run target with four wickets and two balls remaining. Harry Tector and Curtis Campher played significant innings for the Irish team.
Prior to that, Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe’s full-time captain, was absent from the 2nd T20 match due to suspension for two games following an altercation with Irish players Curtis Campher and Josh Little during the opening game. A fifteen percent match fee cut was assessed to Little and Campher.
Following a steady start from Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and an unbeaten partnership of 87 runs between Ryan Burl and Clive Madande, Zimbabwe amassed a respectable total of 165 runs against Ireland.
