In the first of a three-match Twenty20 series against England, the Indian women’s cricket team was defeated on Saturday. The venue for this game between the two teams was Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. England took a commanding 2-0 lead in the series after winning the match by four wickets. After winning the toss, England captain Heather Knight chose to bowl first. In 16.2 overs, Team India was all out for 80 runs. In 11.2 overs, the visiting team scored 82 runs to win the match.

For India, Renuka Singh Thakur and Deepti Sharma each claimed two wickets.
The opening batsmen for India did not perform.
In the first over of the match, India was dealt its first blow. On the second ball, Charlotte Dean trapped Shefali LBW. Shefali was unable to create an account at all. Smriti Mandhana dealt the second blow to India. On the second ball of the fourth over, she was out. Charlotte Dean gave LBW to Mandhana. With nine balls, he scored ten runs.
Middle-order India also fell short.
Following the opening batsmen, India’s middle order fell apart as well. On the fifth ball of the fifth over, Natalie Seaver Brunt claimed the wicket of Captain Harmanpreet Kaur. With seven balls, Harmanpreet scored nine runs. The account could not be opened by Deepti Sharma. On the second ball of the sixth over, she was out. Amy Jones got a hold of him on Lauren Bell’s ball. On the fourth ball of the seventh over, Richa Ghosh made her way back to the pavilion. Richa managed to snare Sophie Ecclestone from the ball. Richa used five balls to score four runs.
Renuka bowled well, but she lost because there weren’t as many runs. The third over saw two wickets taken by Renuka Thakur. On the third ball, she got rid of Sophia Dunkley, and on the sixth ball, Daniel Wyatt. Dunkley made nine runs off of thirteen balls. Wyatt was unable to create an account. Natalie Seaver Brunt was dismissed by Pooja Vastrakar (16 runs). After hitting Saika Ishaq for 25 runs, Alice Capsey was out. Deepti Sharma removed Amy Jones (five runs) and Freya Kemp (zero). Sophie Ecclestone finished the match with nine unbeaten runs, while captain Heather Knight had seven after six wickets fell. Although Indian bowlers were excellent, Team India was forced to lose because there were fewer runs on the scoreboard.
