World Health Organization (WHO) ने पोलियो की चिंता के कारण पाकिस्तान पर यात्रा प्रतिबंधों को तीन महीने के लिए बढ़ा दिया है। 6 मार्च को आपातकालीन समिति की 41वीं बैठक में यह फैसला लिया गया था।
पोलियो प्रभावित देशों के अधिकारियों ने इस बैठक में भाग लिया।विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के अनुसार, समिति ने पाकिस्तान की स्थिति, पोलियो के वैश्विक प्रसार और वायरस को नियंत्रित करने के लिए सरकार की कोशिशों की समीक्षा की।
निष्कर्षों में कहा गया कि पाकिस्तान और अफगानिस्तान वैश्विक पोलियो उन्मूलन प्रयासों में खतरा बन रहे हैं। दोनों देशों को पोलियो वायरस की दुनिया भर में फैलाने का दोषी ठहराया गया है। पाकिस्तान में इस वर्ष अब तक पोलियो के छह पुष्ट मामले सामने आए हैं। पिछले वर्ष 74 मामले सामने आए।

संगठन ने पाकिस्तान के टीकाकरण नियमों पर प्रश्न उठाया। संगठन ने पाकिस्तान से कहा कि संवेदनशील क्षेत्रों में प्रभावी अभियान चलाएं और अफगानिस्तान और पाकिस्तान के बीच सीमा पार संक्रमण जारी है।
