After defeating Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day, Liverpool surged to the top of the Premier League.
The Reds recovered against Vincent Kompany’s team after being held in an exciting draw with Arsenal the previous time.
Darwin Nunez’s goal in the sixth minute appeared to put the outcome beyond doubt, but Burnley rallied and Liverpool had to wait until substitute Diogo Jota’s goal in the ninetieth minute to seal the win.
Although Burnley showed some warning signs and Liverpool had two goals disallowed as well, James Trafford’s effort in front of goal made sure the game went as poorly as it did.
