Source by Newsparviews : Gary Oldman’s career may have been saved by the “Harry Potter” film series, but he isn’t really proud of his portrayal as Sirius Black. Oldman made his screen debut as the beloved character in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (2004). The Oscar winner described his performance in the “Harry Potter” films as “mediocre” in a recent appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. The majority of fans worldwide most likely wouldn’t agree.
To the surprise of podcast presenter Josh Horowitz, Oldman admitted, “I think my work is mediocre in it.” “No, I do.” I genuinely believe that I would have played it differently if I had read the books like Alan [Rickman], gotten ahead of the curve, and knew what was coming.
It’s not like Oldman says nice things about himself after seeing one of his performances. He continued, saying, “It’s like anything; if I sat and looked at something and thought, ‘Oh my god, I’m amazing,’ that would be a very depressing day because you want to improve the next thing.”
In a recent interview with “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Oldman thanked the “Harry Potter” and “Batman” film series for contributing to his professional and personal success. Before he was cast as Sirius Black and James “Jim” Gordon, which turned him into a fan favorite among genre aficionados and gave his career the star power it never had before, Oldman’s acting opportunities were drying up.
Oldman recalled, “I woke up at 42 years old, divorced, and with custody of [my] boys.” That was difficult in and of itself since there had been a change in the industry where many projects were being produced in Australia, Hungary, Prague, Budapest, and other locations. I therefore declined a lot of employment.
He went on, “Thank God for ‘Harry Potter.'” “I’m grateful for ‘Harry Potter.'” I swear to you, “Batman” and “Harry Potter” really saved my life since they allowed me to work as little as possible for the greatest possible pay while still being able to spend time with my children at home.
