Latest News Updates :On Tuesday, Swami Prasad Maurya, the head of the Samajwadi Party, announced his resignation as the national general secretary of the party. Swami Prasad Maurya claimed in his resignation letter to Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the SP, that he would keep working to fortify the party even in the absence of a position.
“As a national general secretary, I find it incomprehensible that any remarks I make turn into a personal declaration, yet other national general secretaries and leaders see every statement they make as a party platform. It’s confusing how, among officials at the same level, certain remarks are regarded as party statements and others as personal ones. Maurya expressed astonishment that senior party leaders did not stand behind him when he came under assault from opposing parties.
Notably, Swami Prasad Maurya is renowned for voicing strong opinions over the consecration of the Ayodhya temple and the Ramcharitmanas.
He declared, “I think there is no justification for continuing in such a discriminatory and insignificant position if there is discrimination even in the post of National General Secretary.”
In addition, Maurya said that his plan to organize a statewide yatra program called Rath Yatra, which aims to “save the Constitution and to protest against the sale of the country’s national assets to private hand,” was rejected.
Maurya, a state legislative council member, earlier defected to the Samajwadi Party from the BJP prior to the 2022 elections. Despite running from Fazilnagar in the assembly elections, he was not successful.
