Afzal Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari’s brother, stated on Tuesday that his brother has claimed that a chemical combined with food supplied to him at Banda jail poisoned his brother, a gangster turned politician.
Mukhtar claimed that while he was incarcerated, he was fed food laced with poison. This is the second time it has happened. He was also administered poison some forty days prior.
And lately, on March 19 or 22, he was given this poison once more, which is why his condition is terrible,” Ghazipur MP Afzal was cited by PTI as adding. He also mentioned that his brother is aware and in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“The jail doctor started treating Mukhtar Ansari right away after he fell in the toilet during the night and his health suddenly deteriorated. Following notification of the district administration, a group of physicians was contacted, and the prisoner was referred to the medical college that same evening. According to a statement sent by the UP prison department, the prisoner was admitted to Medical College Banda while under police protection, where he is receiving treatment.
According to a medical bulletin published by the Banda Medical College, Mukhtar Ansari was admitted at 3:55 a.m. with a complaint of abdominal pain.

His name was included in the Uttar Pradesh Police’s list of 66 gangsters from the previous year. Mukhtar Ansari’s family has previously voiced concern that he would be killed in a fictitious encounter.
