Extra precautions were made to keep the animals at Jaipur’s Nahargarh Biological Park cool during the unrelenting warmth. Dr. Arvind Mathur, senior wildlife veterinary officer at Nahargarh Biological and Zoological Park, discussed the plans with ANI, saying, “On medical advice, some of the animals’ diets have also been changed, with sloth bears receiving additional barley-based drinks and fruit ice cream.” Cucumbers and watermelons are fed to herbivores like deer. To increase the amount of fluid that each animal consumes, electrolytes and glucose are given to them alternately. They also receive nutritional supplements, deworming, and round-the-clock supervision.”
