As Rahul Gandhi films a skit, a TMC MP remarks, “My spine is so straight.” The BJP calls this behavior “reckless.”

Parliament Security Breach: During the protest on Tuesday at Parliament’s Makar Dwar, Trinamool Congress (TMC) suspended MP Kalyan Banerjee was seen imitating Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen filming the MP with his phone.

“My spine is so straight, I’m so tall,” protesting MPs can be heard saying in the video, which presents Kalyan Banerjee’s version of events in the Rajya Sabha during a mock parliament.

Since last Thursday, 141 opposition members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been placed under suspension. The opposition parties, who allege they were suspended for asking Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a statement regarding the December 13th Parliament security breach, in which two individuals—Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D—jumped to the center of the Lok Sabha and sprayed color smoke bombs while yelling, “Tanashahi nahin chalegi,” have taken offense at the record-breaking suspension.

‘Misconduct’ and disregard for the Chair’s instructions were the reasons given by the Privileges Committee of Parliament to suspend opposition Members of Parliament for the remainder of the Winter Session.

A video showing suspended Members of Parliament sitting on the stairs of the new Parliament building was shared by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on the microblogging platform X. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was filming suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee as he imitated Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

“TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee ridiculed the Honourable Vice President, while Rahul Gandhi lustily cheered him on,” stated the BJP tweet.

On Tuesday, opposition members staged mock House proceedings and protested against the suspension of MPs at the Makar Dwar of the new Parliament building.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, and other opposition figures assembled to voice their disapproval of the suspension of up to 92 MPs since December 14 and to demand an answer from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the security breach in Parliament.
