A series of earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.7 started at 4:06 pm in the Noto region, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

A startling 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck at 4:10 pm marked the heart of the developing problem shortly afterward. A 6.1-magnitude earthquake occurred at 4:18 p.m., followed by a 4.5-magnitude tremor at 4:23 p.m., a 4.6-magnitude earthquake at 4:29 p.m., and a 4.8-magnitude earthquake at 4:32 p.m.

The US Geological Survey reports that a second 6.2 magnitude earthquake made the already terrible situation even worse.
