In the WPL 2024 encounter between DC and MI, Shabnim Ismail bowls the fastest ball in women’s cricket history.

The second ball of the third over of the game was delivered by Shabnim Ismail, the first women’s cricket player to ever cross the 130 kph mark.

WPL 2024 Updates : The record for the fastest ball bowled in women’s cricket was broken on Tuesday by Shabnim Ismail, a former South Africa bowler, who hit a ball at 132.1 kph while playing for the Mumbai Indians against the Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi.

The ball that hit DC captain Meg Lanning on the pads in the third over of the contest was the second ball delivered by Shabnim Ismail, the first women’s cricket player to ever cross the 130 kph mark. MI filed an appeal, but the umpire rejected it.
The former South African quick retired after the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. She also held the record for the fastest ball, which was 128 kph against the West Indies in 2016 and 127 kph twice during the tournament.
Ismail, on the other hand, did not have the best performances as he was hammered for 46 runs, with Shafali Verma hitting three straight sixes in her third over. Ismail claimed she doesn’t truly “look at the big screen when bowling” in response to a question about whether she was aware of the record.

In a match between top-of-the-table teams, DC defeated defending champions MI by 29 runs because to dominant fifties from Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues.
