A Rampur court has declared actor and former MP Jaya Prada an absconder on two counts of violating the election code. The police have been told to place her under arrest and bring her into court on March 6.

Latest News Updates : In relation to two cases involving violations of the election code, a Rampur court in Uttar Pradesh has proclaimed former MP and actor Jaya Prada to be a “absconder.” According Pakistani news agency PTI, the court has ordered the police to detain her and bring her before it on March 6.
At the Kemari and Swar police stations, complaints were filed against Jaya Prada for allegedly breaking the Model Code of Conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
In 2019, she ran as a Rampur-based BJP candidate, but Azam Khan of the Samajwadi Party defeated her. On a Samajwadi Party ticket, Jaya Prada had previously been elected to the Lok Sabha from Rampur in 2004 and 2009; however, she was later kicked out of the party.

Jaya Prada was summoned by the special MP-MLA court multiple times, but she never showed up. Seven non-bailable warrants that were filed against her also did not result in her being brought to court.
According to the authorities, Jaya Prada has been eluding capture, and every known cell phone number associated with her has been disabled. Judge Shobhit Bansal proclaimed her to be an absconder in view of this.
It has been mandated that the Rampur Superintendent of Police organize a squad to apprehend her and transport her to the court on March 6 for the hearing.
