The Prime Minister asked Shri Alpeshbhai Chandubhai Nizama, a VBSY beneficiary from Bharuch, Gujarat, who is an ITI-certified farmer and diploma holder in hardware engineering, why he chose to enter the agricultural industry. In response, Alpeshbhai said he had made the decision to resign from his position and start farming on the 40 acres of his ancestral land. He told the prime minister that he bought farming equipment at discounted rates by utilizing the subsidies provided by the federal and state governments. He continued by saying that he had received a Rs 3 lakh subsidy for drip irrigation methods. “You are talking about lakhs, and at your age, I had no idea what a lakh rupee looked like.”
The Prime Minister encouraged Alpeshbhai to advise his fellow farmers on the newest farming methods and cutting-edge machinery while expressing satisfaction with the subsidies he received. Speaking, Shri Alpeshbhai discussed his involvement with ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) projects since 2008, during which he learned about the farming practices of various states and regions. Additionally, he disclosed that in Bharuch, he had been presented with a “Best Farmer Award” by ATMA while the Prime Minister was present.
