Reported By Newsparviews: According to Yonhap news agency, actor Lee Sun-kyun, who is most known for his part in the Oscar-winning movie “Parasite,” was discovered dead on Wednesday after reportedly taking his own life. The actor was found inside a car at a park in the heart of Seoul, according to the police report.

The 48-year-old was being investigated by the police for probable marijuana and other psychotropic substance use when this happened.

Amid a government crackdown, the actor had been questioned by police three times on allegations of using illegal drugs; one interview lasted for nineteen hours over the weekend. According to the Yonhap news agency, the actor claimed that a bar hostess had deceived him into ingesting narcotics in an attempt to blackmail him.

A fire official told Reuters, under condition of anonymity, that authorities discovered Lee during a search that was prompted by the report that he was missing. This is because the case is delicate. Yonhap earlier reported, citing police, that Lee was discovered in a car at a Seoul park after his manager informed authorities the actor had left home and left what appeared to be a suicide note. It was formerly stated that his wife had reported the occurrence.

Repeat offenders and sellers face a maximum punishment of 14 years in prison or six months in detention for violating South Korea’s strict drug laws.

“Parasite,” a dark-comedy thriller helmed by Bong Joon-ho, garnered six Oscar nominations before taking home the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film awards in 2020. Additionally, the movie became the first South Korean picture to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes picture Festival. A Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture was given to Lee and the “Parasite” cast.

Lee plays Mr. Park in the movie, a wealthy family whose home is broken into by members of a lower class family posing as highly skilled domestic staff in a complex plot that ends horribly.

Lee, who was born in 1975, starred in several South Korean films, including the horror “Helpless” (2012) and the romantic comedy “All About My Wife” (2014). Additionally, he starred in the lead role of Apple TV’s inaugural Korean-language original series, which debuted in 2021. The six-part science fiction thriller “Dr. Brain” told the story of a heartless doctor using brain research to try and piece together the details of an unexplained family disaster. Jeon Hye-jin, an award-winning actress, is Lee’s wife. The two of them have two children.
