Actor Tom Wilkinson, a two-time Oscar nominee, passed away “suddenly” on Saturday. He was most known for his role in “The Full Monty,” which followed a group of unemployed steel workers as they pursued new professions as strippers.

In a statement issued on behalf of his family, the British actor’s agent acknowledged his passing. His age was 75.

“Tom Wilkinson passed away unexpectedly at home on December 30, his family announces with deep regret. He was accompanied by his wife and family.”

For his performances in “In The Bedroom” as a main actor and “Michael Clayton” as a supporting actor in 2001 and 2007, Wilkinson received nominations for the Academy Awards.

In the eponymous Disney+ series, he most recently reconnected with Robert Carlyle and Mark Addy, his Full Monty co-stars.

The original 1997 smash hit, which followed an unusual group of men as they stripped down, was nominated for three awards, including best film and best director, and went on to win an Oscar for best original musical or comedic score.

Gerald Cooper, the former foreman portrayed by Wilkinson, was enlisted to assist the jobless men in dancing.

For the part, the actor also won a Bafta for Best Supporting Actor.

Calling him a “true titan of an actor, one of the greats of not only his, but of any generation,” Carlyle paid homage to his co-star.

In the HBO series John Adams, Wilkinson played American politician Benjamin Franklin, opposite Paul Giamatti, and won a 2008 Emmy and a 2009 Golden Globe.

His parts in the 1995 adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility,” the 2014 Wes Anderson comedy drama “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” the 2011 ensemble comedy “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” and the BBC version of Charles Dickens’ “Martin Chuzzlewit” were also well-known.
