Celebrity Vergara, who gained notoriety for her role as Gloria Pritchett on “Modern Family,” talked to the LA Times about her experiences in the business and getting ready for her part in the Netflix series “Griselda.”
“I’m always looking for characters because there’s not much that I can play with this stupid accent,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “I cannot be in ‘Schindler’s List,’ nor can I play a scientist.” My performing opportunities are really few.”
But it appears that the 51-year-old actor’s accent may have benefited her in her most recent role, which had her play Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug lord. The Netflix series “Griselda,” which Vergara plays, debuted on Thursday.

She had studied Blanco for years before to the project starting, but she was still concerned that she would never be able to get go of her “Modern Family” persona.
The night before “Griselda” filming started, according to Vergara, she was self-conscious and unsure of her ability to play the part convincingly.
