Cricket Updates : Against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2023–23 Ranji Trophy, Hyderabad batsman Tanmay Agarwal achieved the fastest triple century in first-class cricket history by reaching 300 in just 147 balls. With one wicket lost, Hyderabad managed to score 529 runs in just 48 overs.

At 323 off 160 deliveries, Agarwal, who surpassed South Africa’s Marco Marais record, was still undefeated. At the Hyderabad-based NexGen Cricket Ground, he scored 21 sixes and 33 fours.

This was the first “first-class” cricket match played in approximately 252 years, according to Wisden Almanack, which dates the event to 1772.

In just 119 balls, Agarwal achieved this incredible achievement, breaking the previous record developed by Ravi Shastri.

In addition, Agarwal broke Ishan Kishan’s previous record for most sixes hit in an innings.

Marais became the first batsman in first class cricket history to reach 300 runs in 191 balls or less in 2017.

Despite opting to bat first, Arunachal Pradesh was dismissed after scoring 172 runs in less than 40 overs. Techi Doria contributed to his team’s total with an incredible 97-run unbroken innings.

Rahul Singh and Agarwal opened the innings together, and Agarwal amassed an astounding 529 runs at a run rate of 11.13.

The opening partnership of 464 for Delhi versus Himachal Pradesh in 1994–1995 set by Ravi Sehgal and Raman Lamba is the highest opening stand in Ranji Trophy history, and the pair was only 15 runs short of that record.

But it has now surpassed the 386 between Akshath Reddy and Hanuma Vihari against Mumbai in 2012 to become the highest first-class partnership for Hyderabad for any wicket.
