Updates : Following scheduled abdominal surgery, Kate, the Princess of Wales, was admitted to the hospital, Kensington Palace announced in a statement on Wednesday. Ten to fourteen days were anticipated for the British royal’s stay in the hospital.
Kate “hopes the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normalcy for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” according to the statement, which did not elaborate on the purpose of the surgery.
Shortly after the news was made public by Kate and William’s official residence, the Prince of Wales, Buckingham Palace issued a statement announcing that William’s father, King Charles III, would be admitted to a hospital the following week to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate.
Every year, The King, like thousands of other men, seeks treatment for an enlarged prostate. The monarch will postpone his public appearances “for a brief period of recuperation,” according to a statement from Buckingham Palace. “His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”
Kate apologized in the Kensington Palace statement for having to cancel her own forthcoming events.
Kensington Palace informed CBS News that William will miss certain upcoming events to be with his wife and that Kate was not battling cancer.
The Princess of Wales is “unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” according to Kensington Palace, despite the fact that the “surgery was successful.”
According to the statement, Kate “looks forward to reinstating as many (engagements) as possible, as soon as possible.”
William, Kate’s spouse, is the next in line to succeed to the British throne as King Charles’ eldest son.
